Gessnerallee is a home for Zurich-based artists and for those coming from abroad. Many protagonists making up the local drama, dance, performance and music scenes have been closely related to the cultural landmark for years. And it is integral to us to regularly engage in novel collaborations with young artists and newcomers!
Our Artist-in-Residence Program offers local artists various tools and spaces for the advancement of their creative work—with the flexibility to result in "output" or not. What we aim for is the interplay and lively exchange between generations and national and international networks as well as a dedication to non-hierarchical course formats.
Held several times a year, the Lab is a communal space for non-output-oriented collaborations. Gessnerallee brings together an interdisciplinary group of artists, activists, scientists, organizers, designers and writers who in self-organization explore themes at the intersection of politics and the arts. The goal of every Lab edition is collaborative experience and the forming of long-term relationships, perhaps even friendships—with no pressure applied.

And be patient with us, sometimes we do not manage to answer within 24 hours.
Throughout the year Gessnerallee offers studio residencies lasting several weeks. The artist-in-residence program is designed to give artists the space and time to dive into research, developmental work, practice and production. Included in the paid residency are rehearsal studios, tech, accommodation, travel costs and interactions with the Gessnerallee team. All residencies are invitation-based or facilitated through our networks and partners.
We organize cross-generational and -cultural blind dates for artists! Tandem is fully funded and encourages dialogue at eye level between two artists who are new to each other and who may gain from the interaction.
