It is important to us that the Gessnerallee is not just a place for enthusiasts, but a place for everyone - or at least many. That is why we are constantly working on measures to make the program more accessible to a wide range of people. We understand accessibility on different levels. On the one hand, we strive to operate as barrier-free as possible. On the other hand, we also try to make the house more accessible for families and across language and generation boundaries. All measures are listed below. On the pages of the events, the respective measures are also noted with icons. We will inform you about new measures here. If you notice something, please send us your input by mail to: info@gessnerallee.ch or by phone +41 44 225 81 10. If you need a specific seat, please contact kasse@gessnerallee.ch or phone +41 44 225 81 11. We will find a suitable seat.
Website
The Gessnerallee website can also be viewed in low-stimulus mode. To do so, please click on the eye symbol. It is located on the home page in the upper right corner. In the calendar, performances can be selected by accessibility type using the filter in the upper right corner.
Wheelchair Accessible Rooms
The house has 3 wheelchair accessible restrooms. Our performances are wheelchair accessible unless otherwise noted. We are happy to assist people in wheelchairs or with walking disabilities in reserving a suitable seat. We appreciate an email in advance to: kasse@gessnerallee.ch
Surtitles
Performances with supertitles and descriptive supertitles are specially marked.
Translation in SDGS
Performances and events in sign language are specifically identified.
Non-speech based
The program contains many performances that are not speech-based.
Inductive listening system
The Gessnerallee has a hearing system with an induction loop for people with hearing disabilities. Performances where the hearing system is in operation are marked accordingly.
Audio description
Performances with audio description are marked accordingly.
Assistants and assistance dogs.
Persons accompanying people with disabilities to a performance receive a free ticket. Assistance dogs have access rights to the theater. We will be happy to reserve an appropriate place for them if you contact us in advance: Tel. +41 44 225 81 10 / kasse@gessnerallee.ch.
Relaxed Performance
With a Relaxed Performance we explicitly want to invite audience members for whom it is exhausting to conform to strict conventional theater norms. The aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere in which sensory stimuli are reduced as much as possible or appropriate aids such as hearing protection are provided. We try to be as transparent as possible about possible trigger content. We also try to avoid complete darkness by using dimmed lights in the room. It is not obligatory to remain silent. Those who need a break can leave the room at any time and return.
Accompaniment
We are happy to offer accompaniment to people with visual impairments or people who feel unsafe or have fears in public buildings. Please contact us in advance: Tel. +41 44 225 81 10 / kasse@gessnerallee.ch
Parking spaces
Upon presentation of the parking ticket, our guests will receive a voucher of CHF 5 at the cash desk, which will be credited when paying the parking fee at the City Parking machine.
